UF to Host Health Professions Summer Camp

The College of Health Professions and College of Pharmacy at University of Findlay (UF) will host the Health Professions Summer Camp June 25-28 on the University’s campus. Aimed at addressing the systemic racial health disparities prevalent in our society today, this camp is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) through the Eliminating Generational Racial Health Disparities – Initiative (EHDI). The grant was initiated by University alumnus Robert Braylock, Pharm.D., M.B.A. ’16.

Twenty middle school students, from Chicago, Ill., will be on campus participating in the Health Professions Summer Camp. Through partnerships with local hospitals, healthcare organizations, and community leaders, the Health Professions Summer Camp will offer a rich and comprehensive curriculum, including hands-on activities, mentorship programs, and educational workshops. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with accomplished professionals of color who will share their personal journeys, provide guidance, and instill a sense of possibility.

“We believe that representation matters,” said Debra Parker, dean of the College of Pharmacy. “We also want to show these young students that college and a career in healthcare can be an option for them.” UF is dedicated to supporting and driving impactful change through this transformative initiative.
