UF to Name Campus Building in Honor of Retiring President Fell
Generous alumni and friends of the University of Findlay have donated and pledged more than $2.64 million to name the Davis Street building in honor of President Emeritus Katherine Fell, Ph.D., and her husband Roger Fell.
“With President Fell’s retirement this summer, many loyal Oilers wanted to celebrate her remarkable impact for 16 years at UF,” said Ken McIntyre Jr., vice president of University advancement. “This is a living tribute to her exemplary leadership that has provided stability for the University and made a difference for thousands of our students.”
Already more than 50 donors have contributed to the honor, McIntyre noted, and all UF alumni and friends are invited to participate. Gifts will go to the Findlay Fund, which is the University’s annual fund that fuels campus operations and benefits all students.
“Roger and I have loved the University of Findlay since our first day here, and we are deeply honored to have our name associated with this great university,” President Fell said.
Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn, a 2014 UF graduate, said she was honored to make a gift in gratitude for President Fell’s tenure, describing her as “an incredible leader, mentor, and friend.”
“I am going to miss her in this role but am incredibly excited for her to enjoy a much deserved retirement and know she will continue to be a fierce advocate for Findlay, Ohio, and the University of Findlay, along with UF students and graduates.”
UF purchased the Davis Street building, at 300 Davis Street, from Owens Community College in April 2006. Since then, the 62,000 square foot facility has undergone renovations and now houses classrooms and labs for the College of Education, College of Pharmacy, College of Sciences, and hosts a variety of classes and campus events.
“Nestled in the heart of campus, this building also is the location for cutting edge research under way by our science and pharmacy faculty and students,” McIntyre explained.
“Additionally, it welcomes local youngsters who visit the Clubhouse, a free literacy outreach service provided by our education majors, where they teach children to read. How fitting that a space like this could honor the legacy of Kathy and Roger Fell.”
