University of Findlay has subscribed to Cengage Unlimited to give incoming freshmen in business and computer science programs unlimited access to more than 22,000 digital course materials. The subscription will save students upwards of $500 per year on course materials including electronic textbooks, online homework, and study guides.
“We are tremendously excited to partner with Cengage on this opportunity to save hundreds of dollars for our incoming freshmen students in Business and Computer Science – as the costs of higher education continue to rise overall, at UF, we are constantly seeking new ways to save our families money,” said Tom Lause, CFO and vice president of business affairs.
With the average student spending more than $400 annually, and some spending significantly more, the cost of course materials is a top financial stress for students, according to a recent Morning Consult survey. Cengage Unlimited helps alleviate that stress by offering lower costs on course materials such as textbooks. Since the launch of the Cengage Unlimited subscription, more than 3.3 million U.S. college students have saved over $330 million on course materials.
Damon Osborne, associate vice president for academic affairs, added, “Not only is this a cost savings for our families, it also provides these students access to the course materials inside the Canvas learning management system from day one. For the courses that use Cengage materials, everything they need will be available immediately!”
“The cost of course materials is a barrier for many students and our partnership aims to address affordability issues while providing access to quality learning,” said Fernando Bleichmar, EVP and general manager, U.S. Higher Education at Cengage. “We applaud University of Findlay for taking a proactive approach to lower costs with Cengage Unlimited, and we’re excited for the learning benefit and value students will see as a result.”
