University of Findlay Hosts Elite Scholarship Day
University of Findlay hosted their Elite Scholarship Day on Saturday, December 3, inviting 91 students to campus to compete for a full-tuition scholarship.
Considered the University of Findlay’s most prestigious academic scholarship event, those in attendance were students who are currently accepted to the University of Findlay, and who have a minimum 28 ACT score. The event also serves as a way to educate potential students on what being an Oiler truly means.
Students began the morning with an ice breaker exercise, followed by three sessions. Students interviewed with a faculty member and a current student, and had the opportunity to see what lies beyond the classroom with a “Go Beyond Session.” During the session, students learned more about research opportunities, the ability to study abroad, as well as non-major activities like music and theater.
Timothy Murphy, Ph.D. serves as an Associate Professor of Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Management at the University of Findlay, but over the weekend he served as a friendly face at Elite Scholarship Day. Murphy was happy to volunteer his time at the event, and is happy to interact with students that could be future Oilers. “As a faculty member, the scholarship competitions are my favorite events on campus. We attract some outstanding students to these events, and I wish that all of them would be attending Findlay in the near future – as they are the best and brightest,” said Murphy.
The lucky winner of the Elite Scholarship, resulting in full tuition being paid at the University of Findlay, will be announced before Christmas. Each student that competed for the Elite Scholarship, will be awarded an Elite Interview Scholarship of $2,000 per year just for participating in this event.
