University of Findlay’s Music Bach’s Concert Open to the Community
University of Findlay welcomes students, faculty, staff, and community members to campus for an afternoon of music. Sponsored by Student Activities Board “Your Source for Diverse Edutainment,” Music Bach’s Concert Series is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 10 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Alumni Memorial Union. The event will feature musician Harley Ferris.
Singer-songwriter Harley Ferris combines songs and stories to explore the difficult terrain of post-modern life. Blending folk rock and power pop, his songs reach across decades and genres to create music that feels simultaneously fresh and familiar. His lyrics seek a relatable conversation that avoids idealistic cliches and weary cynicism to instead find peace despite discomfort, confidence in uncertainty, surprise amid grief, and growth from regret. Whether performing with a band or alone with an acoustic guitar, Ferris offers perspectives that are unapologetically authentic and vulnerable with healthy doses of humor and hope.
Performing professionally since the early 1990s, Ferris has played at local venues, schools, and churches, from Seattle to Daytona Beach. After taking time off to pursue a family and a career in education, Ferris became the father of three grown children, and earned a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Writing. Even after all those years, music never left, and he returned to composing, performing, and recording his own music. His recent songs have received radio airplay on UF’s Pulse Radio-WLFC (88.3FM) and Louisville Independent Radio-WFPK (91.9FM). His debut solo album “Long Time Coming,” is scheduled for release on Feb. 10.
Tables will be set up so individuals may bring a lunch and eat while they listen to Ferris play. The event is set up as a “drop in” concert, allowing people to come and go as needed. If you have questions about the Music Bach’s Concert, please contact the Student Activities office at 419-434-4606.
