Dizzie, Duke and More: UF Jazz Ensemble to Pay Tribute to the Masters
University of Findlay’s Jazz Ensemble will offer “A Salute to the Jazz Masters” during their annual spring concert, which will be held Sunday, March 24 at 3 p.m. in the Winebrenner Building’s TLB Auditorium.
The concert will be free and open to the public, but tickets will be required. To reserve tickets, contact the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts at mcpa.org or call 419-423-2787.
Under the direction of music professor Jack Taylor, the band will perform music by Louis Armstrong; the big band masters including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman; and icons of the modern jazz era including Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and others.
A few selections from rock and pop legends will also be featured.
Seating will be “coffee-house” style and light snacks will be offered.
