UF Welcomes ’21 Donnell Broadway Concert Series Guest Artist Matthew Hydzik
Broadway star Matthew Hydzik will perform as University of Findlay’s guest artist for the virtual January 2021 Donnell Broadway Concert. Joining Hydzik will be Grammy Award nominated Broadway conductor Phil Reno.
The Jan. 24 concert will be held virtually, with the livestream beginning at 7:30 p.m., and is free to the public. Advanced registration for the event is preferred and can be completed on the Donnell Broadway Concert Series webpage.
Born and raised near Pittsburgh, PA, Hydzik’s love of theatre began when he was in fifth grade with his performance in a school theater production. Now, a proud graduate of Penn State with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre, Hydzik has made it to the big leagues with multiple Broadway performances.
Hydzik’s Broadway credits include Tony in “West Side Story”, Buddy in “Side Show”, Kenickie in “Grease”, and Greg/Brian in “It Shoulda Been You”. Off-Broadway, he has appeared as John in “Tomorrow Morning” and has toured nationally as part of the cast of “If/Then”, “Rent”, “Fame”, “Grease”, and “Flashdance”.
Other favorite performances include concerts and appearances with the LA Philharmonic, Kennedy Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Lyric Opera of Chicago, MUNY, Planet Hollywood Las Vegas, Stages St. Louis, Annenberg Theater Palm Springs, and ACT Connecticut.
The Thomas and Kathleen Donnell Broadway Concert Series Endowment Fund, in addition to other donor funds, enables noted Broadway artists to visit each year to provide concert entertainment for both UF students and the community.
