UF’s 3rd Annual International Mother Language Day
Travel the globe simply by visiting the University of Findlay for its third annual International Mother Language Day celebration! The free, public event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21 in the Center for Student Life atrium.
Live music will be offered, and several UF students will tell stories in their mother languages, including Arabic, Japanese, Swahili, Bengali, English, Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish and more. Sustainably-made jewelry from Bangladesh will be for sale, with all proceeds going to the Endangered Language Fund.
This celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity at UF is being presented by the Department of Language and Culture, Student Government Association, Indian Sub-Continent Student Association, and Cultural Connections of Hancock County.
International Mother Language Day was established in 1999 by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
